Drink all the iced tea, hot tea, or water that you want all day long. The tea should only be sweetened with stevia or another natural sweetener.
Have a regular meal later in the day. It’s best to schedule this meal after 2 PM when you are hungry. Up to 2 glasses of wine are okay with this meal, but preferably not every day.
Have one piece of fruit any time during the day (optional). A piece of fruit is great to have if you feel hunger pangs. An average size serving of any fruit is acceptable.
Have one (1) stevia-sweetened soda sometime during the day (optional). Zevia is a brand we like for stevia-sweetened sodas (often available at your area food store).
That is the diet — Period! Is that easy to remember or what?
Additional Information
Base your one regular meal a day on whole, natural foods as much as possible. It is okay to eat what you love and what satisfies you but remember whole foods contain the nutrients your body needs. Whole, clean, minimally-processed foods are satisfying and nurturing. When you eat your regular meal, eat until you are totally satisfied but do not over eat. Try to regularly include a raw salad and another vegetable in this meal.
This diet is satisfying but if you feel hungry keep this in mind: HUNGER = THINNER. The more you remind yourself of this concept the more you will enjoy any hunger pang you may have!
Many people eat because they are thirsty or depleted in vitamins. Take your vitamins and drink a lot of liquids. Drinking a lot of liquids such as iced tea or water: a) keeps you busy so you won’t need to eat for “something to do,” b) keeps your stomach full, c) flushes and cleans your digestive tract, and d) is necessary for nutrients to get in and for toxins to get out of your cells. Note: Drink pure, clean water including the water used to make your tea.
Consider this: The most effective diets are “diets for life.” A diet you can continue for the long term is a diet that works. After you reach your desired weight it’s okay to bend the rules. You can always go back to this simple plan if you gain a few pounds.
A good brand of stevia is very helpful in this diet. Our office completed a taste test for various brands of stevia. Stevia Liquid Concentrate by Body Ecology won hands down. (You can get this at bodyecology.com.)
Eggs are a health food. Contrary to often repeated misconceptions, eggs do not raise your cholesterol level. The amino acids in eggs are very close to the composition of your body proteins and provide humans with what they require for health. When eating your eggs in the morning it is okay to have a little butter with them. Butter is a pure, natural food and a little (one small pat) in your eggs in the morning is OK. Your eggs should be prepared simply — a little pat of butter and vegetables are optional. You may want to try cutting up hard-boiled eggs in a bit of butter, salt and pepper. Yummy and easy!
If you are not seeing the weight loss you desire, consider whether you need to slightly alter the one regular meal you are consuming day. Or, if you are spending too much time being sedentary, it may take just a small alteration in your one regular meal to make a big difference in your results. Try reducing the carbohydrate content or fat content of your one meal. If you find yourself being sedentary try adopting a few new habits of movement. Perhaps take a daily walk someplace pretty and close by, or consider cleaning the house or stretching while you watch TV.
If you find that you need additional calories or meals, add in a couple raw vegetables and a glass of milk before going to bed.
While on this diet consider supplementation with a good brand of fatty acids and probiotics.
And finally — if you cheat now and then, IT IS OKAY! Simply, and with no guilt, ease yourself back into the diet the next day.
