What Is an NAET Allergy Treatment?

Is your quality of life diminished because of allergies you have to foods, pets, plants, vog or other sources? You don’t have to remain that way.

NAET is a powerfully effective natural treatment method for overcoming allergies. Research-backed with numerous case studies that demonstrate its efficacy, NAET can restore your ability to enjoy your life allergy-free — able to once again enjoy your favorite foods, sleep with family pets, and breath the air wherever you are while remaining free of irritating allergy symptoms.

Nambudripad’s Allergy Elimination Technique, also known as NAET, is a non-invasive, drug free, natural solution to eliminate allergies and sensitivities of all types using a blend of selective energy balancing procedures based on Oriental medical theory. NAET was developed by Dr. Devi Nambudripad in 1983 and is presently available in clinics all over the world. Many conditions can be helped by allergy desensitization including asthma, ADHD, sinusitis, autistic disorders, depression, headaches, joint pain and skin disorders.

How Does NAET Treat Allergies?

NAET practitioners desensitize patients to allergens beginning with the basic 10 food groups. This means, for instance, that one day we desensitize a patient to all of the calcium foods (milk, cheese, different forms of calcium), another day we treat the "Vitamin C Mix" which is comprised of Vitamin C and most fruits and vegetables and another day we desensitize to sugars. Most people feel an improvement in their symptoms before the "10 basics" are done. Even if you have obvious symptoms to environmental allergies (e.g., dust pollens, animals, the Hawaiian "vog") treating for the basic food groups usually helps because this reduces your "allergic load." Reducing the stresses of the allergies to the foods you eat daily can make you more able to handle other allergens such as dust, mold, pollens, vog, etc.

After the basics are done, we treat for the main allergen that is causing the patient’s symptoms. NAET employs muscle testing and the desensitization process is done by using acupressure and kinesiology techniques.

Steps Involved in NAET Treatment

Before your first visit, we recommend that you become informed about the NAET technique. A great way to do this is by reading one of the recommended books by Devi Nambudripad MD. An informed patient usually sees better results. This is because informed patients understand the concepts behind NAET and the possibilities that this wonderful technique has to offer. Informed patients also more often follow through with the treatment protocol and see terrific results.

The Process

A concise explanation of the NAET desensitization process:

  1. First visit: The patient fills out a questionnaire on or before the first visit. Using muscle response testing (MRT) the patient is tested for a few of the basic allergens and perhaps a few items the patient brings in that she or he consumes daily.
  2. Then Desensitization begins (explained 3 through 7).
  3. The patient holds the allergen.
  4. Desensitization occurs by using various techniques that balance the acupuncture meridians and remove blockages in the meridians while you are in the presence of a specific allergen. This process helps your body become accustomed to being in the presence of the allergen with NO REACTIONS while still remaining in a balanced state. This is the main goal of treatment and effectively settles the patient’s allergic symptoms to the allergen or allergens treated that day.
  5. After treatment, we test to see if the patient’s body is remaining in balance with exposure to the allergen.
  6. You will lie down in the presence of the allergen for approximately 15 minutes. This wait period allows your immune system to become accustomed to a new healthier way of dealing with the previously-sensitive substance.
  7. After the wait period we retest you to see if you are still non-reactive to the allergen. We also test to see if you need to avoid the allergic substance for 25 hours.
  8. On the subsequent visit we first retest you to see if you are still non-reactive to the formerly allergenic substance. If you are non-reactive this means that you are able to eat or be around the formerly allergenic substance. (NOTE: This does NOT apply to patients with life threatening allergic conditions.)

If you need re-treatment for the previously treated allergen, we retreat for that substance. If the previous treatment shows to be a success, we move on to the desensitize the next most important allergenic substance to help your condition.

  9. This process continues until your unwanted condition subsides. This usually takes 5-25 (sometime more) treatments. Most patients come in for about 15 treatments to see a nice recovery.
  10. We highly recommend that patients come back into the office periodically for rechecking. When a patient comes in at a later date it is routine that the previously treated allergens are still non-reactive. However, a few treatments may need boosting, and we may need to desensitize a few other items that were not treated during the previous sessions.

Although unlikely, you may have a reaction after a NAET treatment. Reactions usually subside within 24 hours. If a reaction continues past 24 hours, it is likely that the treatment did not clear 100% and you may need an additional NAET treatment for that allergen. The most common reactions include fatigue, mild anxiety, possible sadness or a slight worsening of symptoms. If your reaction is more serious, we recommend that you call your doctor or go to the emergency room. (A serious reaction is very unlikely but possible).

Order of Treatments

The order of treatments begins with the basic food groups. Even sensitivities to environmental allergens such as dust, cats and the vog, will usually improve after a few treatments for the food groups. This is due to the concept of the Rain Barrel Effect (see "Why Do We Get Allergies?").

It is routine for our clients to see improvements in their symptoms by the fifth treatment. We highly recommend that you proceed through the basic ten food groups. Most people either feel that they are better after clearing the basic ten food groups or have seen enough of an improvement in their condition that they decide to continue on with NAET treatments to experience even greater beneficial results.

Below is the order of the 10 basic NAET treatments (note how much is covered with just the basic treatments).

  1. BBF — For body balancing to ensure that the client proceeds optimally with the remainder of the NAET treatment protocol.
  2. Egg Mix — Contains eggs, chicken, feathers and more. This is important because this help the body handle many protein substances.
  3. Calcium Mix — Contains milk products.
  4. Vitamin C Mix — Contains fruits and vegetables.
  5. B Complex Mix — Contains 16 B vitamins, including thiamine, riboflavin, niacin, and others. The B vitamin treatment is one of the most powerful treatments.
  6. Sugar Mix — Contains 9 sugars, including corn sugar, fructose, glucose and lactose.
  7. Iron Mix — Contains meats such as beef, pork, lamb and some produce.
  8. Vitamin A Mix — Contains beta carotene, fish and shellfish.
  9. Mineral Mix — Contains magnesium, zinc, copper etc.
  10. Salt Mix — Includes many kinds of salt and a few chemicals.

NAET is a gentle, relaxing yet very effective technique to remove sensitivities to all substances.
